CONSTRUCTION AREA LEAD

ATLANTA, GA

Position Description:

We are looking for a CONSTRUCTION AREA LEAD to join our CONSTRUCTION DEPATMENT to improve infrastructure in our Atlanta office. Candidates should have a bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering, a master's degree is preferred. Twenty or more years of construction engineering, project management experience and a PE license in Georgia are required. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Operational
    • Responsible for construction operations and financial performance of the Atlanta Metropolitan Area
    • Track monthly workload to coordinate staffing needs and recommend staff changes as needed within managed geography
    • Review and approve contracts and seek input from In-House Counsel, the Project Director and Quality Manager (IHC, PD&QM) Team, Business Development Lead (BDL) and Market Segment Lead (MSL) as appropriate
    • Accountable for project teams within area in coordination with the PD&QM Team
    • Effectively coordinate all activities with the MSL
    • Accountable for Project Manager/Client Manager performance in coordination with the PD&QM Team
    • Support MSL and BDL in the annual business plan development
    • Participate in all salary setting and bonus distribution discussions for staff within respective geography
    • Supervise all front-line managers as well as select Senior Staff within respective geography
    • Responsible for meeting utilization goals for respective geography
    • Approve time and expense sheets
    • Accountable for consistent technical project approach across market segment
  • Sales/Business Development
    • Lead development of the Atlanta Metropolitan Area for construction services and construction management growth strategy and hold regular discussions on progress towards meeting goals
    • Work in coordination with the Water Resources, Municipal, Transportation, Industrial-Commercial-Energy BDLs, Client Service Managers (CSMs) and MSL to meet revenue goals within BD budgets established
    • Support and provide input for approval of all go-no-go forms for construction pursuits within respective geography
    • Work in coordination with Water Resources, Municipal, Transportation, Industrial-Commercial-Energy BDLs, Client Service Managers (CSMs) and MSLs to identify strategic growth opportunities for construction services.
  • Corporate
    • Provide annual Business Plan inputs (sales/revenues/staffing) to market segment lead
    • Identify and recommend training, seminars and conferences to MSL
    • Provide input to/support the market segment lead on business development and growth initiatives
    • Maintain a safe working environment

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering required
  • Master's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering preferred

Skills/Experience:

  • 20 years or more of related experience required
  • Licensed Professional Engineer required
  • Project management experience
