ENTRY LEVEL - PLANNER

TAMPA, FL

Position Description:

We are looking for a ENTRY LEVEL - PLANNER to join our MUNICIPAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT to improve infrastructure in our TAMPA office. Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in planning or related field and zero to two years of related experience. Basic background in master planning, urban design, zoning ordinances updates, economic planning, neighborhood planning, community planning, downtown planning and smart growth land use issues is required, GIS experience is preferred. Excellent technical writing, organization and communication skills are essential. Candidates must be self-motivated and able to work well with others. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Perform site plan reviews
  • Gather and analyze community profile data (census, national resources, existing land use, etc.)
  • Assist in Master Plan analysis
  • Write reports and letters (Master Plans, CDBG, SPR, etc.)
  • Conduct census data/socio-economic analysis
  • Complete rezoning applications
  • Assist with recreation plans
  • Assist in zoning ordinance revisions
  • Conduct project specific research through interviews, literature review, etc.
  • Assist with writing proposals and creating presentations
  • Participate in various meetings (staff, client, community, etc.)
  • Maintain excellent client relations
  • Maintain a safe working environment
Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Urban Planning required
Skills/Experience:

  • 0 to 2 years of related experience required
  • GIS experience preferred
